Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid that helps to add volume and hydration. It is the only hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is FDA approved to last up to one year.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all mammals that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

Juvéderm® is injected into the skin using a fine needle. Discomfort is minimized with topical anesthetic.

The most commonly treated areas include the lips, corners of the mouth, acne scars, cheeks, nasolabial lines, lip lines and wrinkles in the chin area.

The process takes approximately 15-30 minutes depending on the area (s) being treated.

Immediately after the treatment, you can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the Juvederm injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days.

The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection-site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising. Most side effects are mild or moderate and their duration is short, lasting 7 days or less.

Juvederm® should not be used in those who have a history of anaphylaxis or history of allergies to gram positive bacterial proteins. Juvederm® should not be used by patients who are pregnant or nursing.
